New starter still turns slow

2000 EX 132K miles - I have read most of the threads on this; original starter started turning real slow (but starting) about 6 wks ago. Did the voltage test - passed and charged the battery (trickle) anyhow. Only takes 1/2 hour and says charged. Do not think we have a charging/battery problem. Ordered a remanuf starter from amazon. Took the old off this AM (it looked beat) and tested it and sure enough it still spun pretty decently. Tested the new one before installing and it did great. Installed the new one and tested. It seemed like it improved slightly but still not what we were used to before problem started. I then removed the battery, cleaned cables and connectors - they are quality, removed negative ground, sanded and reinstalled w/grease and did my best to check any ground like connections in the front end. Some of them had light rust as the car orginally came from Ohio 3 or 4 yrs ago - we are in Fla. It was dealer maintained from the original owner and we have maintained it well. Are there any specific grounds (hard to find) that we should check or any other thoughts why it doesn't seem to turn over very fast? I know this isn't a broke condition but trying to be proactive thanks - Bill Just a thought - it is due for an oil change; this would not make any difference?

I would do voltage drop testing between battery and starter. Both pos side and neg side tests.

Google 'voltage drop test' for more info about what it is and methods to use

No....Well, maybe if the engine were full of tar.

Re: New starter still turns slow

Problem solved - bad battery Ugghh! My test was without a load; yeah rookie mistake! Bad cell. So I replaced the starter for nothing. At least it looked beat to death but who knows it may have lasted for years. Hope someone can learn from my mistake! Thanks - Bill
