Lower heater hose cool at operating temp?
Lower heater hose cool at operating temp?
I replaced the lower radiator hose and the lower heater hose last night after the heater hose split open fully in the driveway after work. I filled up the radiator and tried to get any air bubbles out. I ran the car to operating temperature and no overheating and I tried again to make sure there were no bubbles in the system. The upper hose became warm and the lower heater hose became very hot, but the lower radiator hose stayed cool to the touch. Is this normal? Also the radiator fan never came on as it sat there. I drove a few miles down the street and the lower radiator hose still never got very hot, more like lukewarm. It's a 2000 civic ex with 233,xxx miles.

If there is a cool breeze, that could be enough cooling to not need to run the radiator fan.
Re: Lower heater hose cool at operating temp?
It was around 65-70 degrees today, I just wanted to make sure. I want to do anything I can to prevent it from overheating. Just glad it's okay. Thanks.
