Question Confused!

I recently purchased a 98 Civic Ex coupe. I am new to Honda so I did some research. My VIN starts with EJ8 so I am positive its an EX and from the research I did that year came with a 1.6L VTEC which is a D16Y8. The confusion is my engine block has a D16Y7 code but my timing belt cover has a D16Y8 code. Any help would be appreciated.
