97' Civic stalling + RPM/meter going crazy!
97' Civic stalling + RPM/meter going crazy!
Hey mates,
Glad to be a member of this great forum by the way (:
I have a Honda Civic 97' model with engine code D16Y2E204057!
The car has serious power issues and it's stalling while your driving it! Sometimes it works not smoothly while idling too! Also the RPM meter is jumping all the time when this happens! When the RPM meter is steady the car is ok,,,
My mechanic tried the following (used parts) but still nothing :
Whole ditributor body
Speed Sensor
Checked the wirings too,,, and the connections behind the dash!
MAP sensor,
Spark Plugs
Coolant temperature sensor
If you plug the diagnostic on the 5pin connector, you can see that the ecu gets the signal for SPEED,,, and RPM,,, Oxygen sensor works too, and MAP
It's a mess!!!
Does anyone knows anything for that problem please?
Do you think it's the ecu that's messing with our heads?
Thanks in advance

Re: 97' Civic stalling + RPM/meter going crazy!
Well the fuel pressure was ok,,, 2.2 bar and 1.5 flow!
As for the crank position sensor it's in the distributor body right? we've tried another whole ditributor but still nothing!

Re: 97' Civic stalling + RPM/meter going crazy!
You need to clean the throttle body... It's possible the butterfly flap is getting stuck on buildup or something else. After you clean the throttle body check your throttle position sensor and idle air control valve. You could also have a vacuum leak. I can't believe the parts youve already replaced without looking into the throttle body.
Any check engine lights?
