Shift lock will not release
Shift lock will not release
Hello, I'm new to the site and I have a 98 civic ex coupe. 140k miles. About a week ago the automatic shift lever will not release after starting when the brake peddle is pushed. I have to shut it off, use the key to manually release it. Any thoughts on what may have happened and how I can fix it. I thought I would ask before tearing into it.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Shift lock will not release
Get a wire diagram and UNDERSTAND how it works before you waste a bunch of time and energy.
TEST to see why it doesn't work.
HINT: Do the brake lights work?
