HELP? Third brake light issue

HELP? Third brake light issue
I just need to change my third brake light, but I can't get to it. Everything says to twist it left and pull it out, but it's like someone superglued everything in place. I already destroyed the plastic around the plug trying to turn it. I drive a 98 Civic EX Coupe. Am I doing something wrong?

Some of those sockets get super tight somehow. You might try a pair of expanded slip joint pliers or small channel locks but... BE CAREFUL !!

I already tried channel locks. Like my fingers it broke the plastic. Someone on another site was saying they oiled theirs and that they got it after that. I'm thinking that my next step.
