98 clutch slipping bad

I am here for a buddy who owns a 2 door 98 civic with 160k miles. His clutch is slipping at cruise and take off.
Is it time for a new clutch or could it be out of adjustment? the clutch disengages as soon as you touch the pedal but with all those miles I figured it was time for a new clutch.

Is there a manual avail free online?

How hard is it to change the clutch on one of these> I have never switched a fwd car?

Any suggestions.

Thanks

Brian

Pull the trans, replace the clutch set--disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing.

Make sure to refill the trans oil after it is back together.

Ok. So you think the clutch is fried? How difficult is it to change? Is there a post on how to do it?

Re: 98 clutch slipping bad

The trans comes out the bottom of the car. Pretty large job to be doing in a driveway, but it can be done. It will be time consuming, large, heavy, and dirty.

I wouldn't even think about doing it in the driveway at my age, but then again, I have the shop at my disposal too.

A shop would be charging roughly 4 hours labor (according to Alldata), plus parts and stuff.

Maybe someone has posted videos on youtube? Give that a try.
