1998 HX RPMs surge while accelerating HELP!
I have a 1998 honda civic HX that I recently bought used private party. I noticed that the check engine light is on and I figured out it needs a new EGR valve. At the same time, the RPMs fluctuate up and down while accelerating but its still at idle. It is like the car lunges forward and back. It is really annoying, and im hoping fixing the EGR valve would fix the problem but I don't know if these two things are associated with one another. Im fearing that this could be the continuously variable transmission going out?? If so this car just became a money pit. Please reply!
