2000 civic shaking and vibrating

Im from new york. we had 7 inches of snow yesterday. I drove the car earlier in the day for a little while and it was fine. i took a ride last night for 15 minutes to bank and back home. after leaving bank car was shaking but not horribly at low speeds. went to go on parkway this morning and from 40 mph and over it was shaking horribly and vibrating. i had to get off parkway and go home.

Anyone have any ideas?

thanks alot.

Hmmmm, possibly between snow and salt creating slush- it may have built up under your vehicle, wheel wells, etc.... Without you hitting something, appearent impact-- and just a short easy going trip its hard to say what it is.... Also involved with vibrations-suspension, engine mounts, and blancers...

Thats your best bet IMO with description at this point. I live in Texas now, but born and raised in Western NY where snow came alot and I've seen the snow build up as described.

snow or ice inside the rim will cause major balance issues and shaking til it melts. sometimes if it freezes, it can be very hard to get off esp with steelies where you have to clean it out from the back side.

Gearbox is likely correct. I live in Wisconsin and have had this problem with my Civic on several occassions. Snow or ice on the inside of the rim throws off the balance something fierce.

It's just snow turn to ice on your rim. have this all the time here in Wisconsin. Go home and melt snow and you are good.

i'm getting a shaking/vibration at low speeds like when i take off from a stop sign or light.... no snow here in Delaware. any ideas? i got a feeling it's the mounts or possibly the tranny (which is getting flushed soon).
