please confirm, blown head gasket

did the quick test.

empty overflow reservoir
fill up radiator
drive,
overflow reservoir full of coolant
after cools, radiator is low.

issue:
overheat due to lack of coolant for the last few month

other fixes done:
-Honda thermostat and radiator Cap

so I'm sure is blown head gasket, can the forum guru confirm.

thanks

I'd say your head gasket is shot. Any time your blowing coolant out of the overflow it pretty much means head gasket. Sorry

well I'm thinking about it, your link is very helpful. is an 99, with 185K, Auto, AC still works. So gasket set, timing belt, water pump parts will cost me $600, just few weekends, I am thinking about it.

Re: please confirm, blown head gasket

Just make sure if you remove the head to get it checked by a shop. If the head is out of spec you will need to replace it with another checked head that hopefully has less mileage. After all this is done the engine should be like new

Re: please confirm, blown head gasket

Seems solved, but for anyone else reading. Tell tale signs are bubbles in the radiator, and if you smell the oil cap and its a scent of gasoline or coolant..... done

BlueEM2,
your DIY is for Gen7, fairly similar to Gen6? I've worked on BMWs and fairly good under the hood.

and Denlors KD 3970 damper holding tool is the only special tool I need?
