cel (check engine light)

my 99 honda civic sedan LX auto brought the cel up, i sent it to the uto store, they said it was the O2 sensor, i have the sensor, went to another shop to see if they could replace it and said dont trust the store, all they did was reset the code and said to come bsck whenever it comes back on. (tbh i think he was just lazy)

the car drives fine, i just hate having problems with it (plus im wanting to do some mods to it) the sooner everything is fixed the better

what should i do?

Re: cel (check engine light)

That was a very ignorant and unhelpful answer from that guy. I had my CEL pop up once or twice and it never came back(glitches do happen), but if your o2 sensor DTC keeps popping up, that should be a pretty good sign one of your sensors is bad. You'll eventually end up suffering from fuel economy issues and some performance problems as the computer won't know the actual oxygen content and it could end up dumping too much fuel(rich) or too little(lean), and that could end up causing more issues down the road like a prematurely failed catcon. I'd keep an eye on the CEL. If it pops up again, you should get it taken care of. It really isn't that much to get them replaced.

Re: cel (check engine light)

it came back on again approx. 30 miles after he reset it, the auto parts store said it was the downstream O2 sensor (i got the part in the car, just needs replacing and reset). the only bad thing is that i have to wait till tuesday for my paycheck, and i REALLY dont wanna drive it anymore than i have to lol.

You should be fine for a few days. It's when days turn to weeks and then you forget and remember when it's too late. lol

Haha. Trust me. Some people are really that lazy or stupid. My teacher said he had someone come into his shop with the low oil pressure light on. They called it the tea kettle light. They had been driving around with it on for like a week. Just remember, red is the worst color to see on the dash .

Re: cel (check engine light)

the way you say that everytime someone starts their car they see like 4 different red lights go on and then off lol.

im also having air conditioning problems.... it doesnt blow cold air when the A/C is on OR off, i think its the fan because when i checked it not too long ago i turned the A/C on and no fan would turn on, i even reved the engine a lil to see if they would actually spin (sadly, nothing), missing a bolt.... (sadly its part of the engine... and i have no clue what size bolt) i have a LONG way to go till i work on mods...
