Idoling Problem 1998 EX
Idoling Problem 1998 EX
Hi everyone,
I've been having issues with my car when it idols at a stop. It will usually start to "chug" and act like it will stall although it never does. I've ruled out some causes such as the A/C, dirty throttle body, fuel filter, battery, distributor and plugs. I've also played a little with the timing with no luck. I'm running out of ideas and I wanna know if anyone else has a suggestion?

Re: Idoling Problem 1998 EX
clean out the IAC (idle air valve) and FITV (fast idle thermo valve). if they are clogged, you wont get enough air in to keep a steady idle when accessories are used. they should be bolted on or around the throttle body and intake manifold.
Re: Idoling Problem 1998 EX
use a little ether while idleing around the intake, if it races the engine you have a vacuum leak somewhere, I had an issue with the intake manifold gasket in the past.
