Hi all. Came here to ask for help as I'm having trouble with my civic esi
Couple of things I should mention:
* CEL before turns off in 1-2 seconds but when I haven't used the car for awhile or when weather is cold it takes up to 2mins. Worst is maybe 5-7!
* I replaced the battery just last May and it worked fine since, no trouble
* Didn't use the car for maybe 2-3 weeks and CEL takes awhile to turn off and engine won't start at all, only hears a click. My friend advised to step on gas and that worked. Took the car for a drive and it worked well didn't have a hard time starting it again.
* Didn't use the car again for about 2 weeks and it won't start at all even when I step on gas. Only hears a click. Nothing.

I don't wanna go to some mechanic or shop I don't know in worry of being ripped off as I obviously has no idea. I just need someone who can really help. My friend said it can be the starter but some forums mentioned it can be a corroded battery connection/connector and I am trying to avoid spending on something that will not solve my car trouble. If you all can give me some advise so I know how to better deal with this, I'll appreciate it.

at least get the code read for free at the auto store to see whats wrong.

it was the starter...it started today but the CEL still took about 4 minutes to turn off.
After I started it and drove it around and shut off the engine, I started it again and the CEL only took a second to turn off. Should I take that to electrical or something like what the other guy said and have the code read?

i would take it to autozone and get them to run the tester on it and find out what it is and plus its free
