2000 Civic SE, A/C not working, Is it a drain on fuel?
The A/C in my 2000 Civic SE has not worked for awhile. I had it checked. They ran some dye thru it, didn't see any leaks, they then recharged it. It worked for about a week and then stopped again, so obviously there is a leak somewhere.
It is low on my priority list right now.
However, the belts and everything for it are still running. I'm wondering if this is impacting my mileage since they are using electrical power. I've heard conflicting stories about this. If it is affecting my gas mileage, would simply pulling the applicable fuses for the AC unit be the way to go? I'm not sure offhand if they are independently fused from everything else.
Thanks.

Re: 2000 Civic SE, A/C not working, Is it a drain on fuel?
it only affects mileage when the a/c is turned on and the compressor is working. otherwise it stays in "neutral" and just spins the pulley.
