Rep Power: 0 5sp Transmission Problem - 98 Civic EX
I have a '98 Civic EX with a 5sp manual transmission with just over 200k miles. I have had no issues or noise or vibrations from the transmission. While driving onto the freeway, the tranny jumped out of 4th gear and now I can't engage any forward gear. I do get some gear clash while trying to engage reverse now, but nothing else. The clutch is fairly new and seems to be working properly.
Any ideas on what's wrong with the tranny?

Bent shift fork and/or worn synchronizers. When you enter reverse, the car should be fully stopped because reverse isn't synchronized in our transmissions. Even the slightest amount of movement will give you a clash.

I figured it was an internal linkage problem. Now the $100k question, do I pull out and down, order the parts to repair or replace it with a $350 used tranny that I have found? It's my commuter car and while its down I have to drive my truck which eats gas. If I R&R with the used tranny, I could have it back on the road by Monday. I'm worried that I'll see more wear/damage once I get inside of this old tranny.
