Question '98 Cut out and won't restart.

Had my standard '98 parked for a couple of weeks. Put a new battery in and it cranked right up. Rode about a mile and the engine switched off. No sputtering, no warning lights. It just stopped.

The engine still turned over well but no hint of a spark from what I could hear. I put in a gallon of gas in just in case and then replaced the fuel filter. There was fuel in the filter I replaced.

Still won't start.

Thanks,

i know it should run fine without the alternator but have you checked it? maybe new starter? im not sure really but can you give us some more info about how it ran before it stopped working? check the fuel lines, maybe new sparks and plugs?

Re: '98 Cut out and won't restart.

The car is turning over well so I don't think that it is the starter motor. The alternator? Not sure. There were no warning lights when it was running as it cut out. Wouldn't it still start without the alternator but just not charge as it was running? I thought fuel lines, but there was fuel in the filter when I changed it. If it was plugs I thought there would be some stuttering and misfiring when it ran, but that was not the case.

It was running fine for a mile after I put the battery in and then the motor stopped working.

Thanks JackedByJack

i know this is kinda of dumb question but did you put the connectors onto the terminals correctly? check the battery for any acid leaks hell take it to autozone let them check it for you. the reason i said alternator is couldve **** out on you while you were driving then the next time you parked the car of course wouldnt start. its hard to think of anything else when there's only so little to go off of.
