98 Civic won't crank - sometimes
I am new to this forum and new to trying to fix things myself. Any advice is appreciated.
I have a 98 Civic EX. 2 weeks ago, it would not crank (not battery). I had it towed and of course it cranked the next day for the mechanic (dozens of times) and passed all the computer diag.
A few days later, it would not crank. I was able to put it in neutral and roll it back a few feet and then it cranked right up.
Today, it would not crank. Someone was parked close behind me so I tried to roll it back 2-3 feet. It still would not crank. After that car was moved, I rolled the car back about 5+ feet and it cranked right up.
It makes NO noise when trying to crank (no clicking, no rrrrrrr). All the bells and lights come on that show the battery is working.
Any thoughts?
Thank you in advance.

Re: 98 Civic won't crank - sometimes
Well, the rolling it backwards worked 4-5 times and then no longer was effective. Replaced the starter and cranks just fine now. i guess rolling it was enough to jostle the starter (similar to tapping it with a hammer).
