What is best for my Civic?

What oil does anybody recomend to run in their Civic? I just bought this 2000 HX 5 speed, and I don't know if they ran synthetic or not. I am thinking that synthetic blend is the way i'm gonna go. Any suggestions.
Also I want to get seat covers that fit really well and dont move around on the seat, ive had covers before and always had that problem. Where is the best place to go to get covers?

Thanx for all the help, 2000 HX

Synthetic oil? What's that?

Just change the oil & filter every 4K or so with regular dino oil that has the SM or SN rating. Any SM or SN oil is fine although each brand of oil has a different additive package.
Chevron Supreme 10w30 is what I use, nobody complains about it on the web and it's at a good price at Costco.

Use a good oil filter too like Purolator Pureone.

Tranny fluid , every ~30K do a drain and fill. Every 15K if you reallllyyyy love your civic. (EDIT: Maybe ludicrious to change so often since it's a 5-speed. My opinions were of the automatic tranny )

Seat covers, I don't know.

Hope this helps

Re: What is best for my Civic?

I use either Valvoline Max Life Syn blend or Mobil 1 high mileage "synthetic". I haven't really noticed a difference in either except the price. Don't know about seat covers. I had some ricetastic dragon and yin-yang ones on my old Corolla though. Worked great but left this yellow powder all over the damn place when it came time to remove them.

Re: What is best for my Civic?

... Oil is over rated... as in the type not having it in there. Any brand name will do and if you don't drive the crap out of your car you don't need synthetic.

Re: What is best for my Civic?

Royal purple 10w30 with hamp or OEM s2k filters.

Good quality oil and filters will always be more expensive than the cheap stuff, but it's more important to maintaining the health of your engine than anything else. I buy my Royal purple by a case of 12 and save 40% off the purchase price.
