2000 civic dx Overheating now will not start
New to the site, wish I would of found it earlier when I had a few other problems.
Currently, I noticed my car overheating the last few days. I tested the hose and the hose seemed to be silent. I saw that there was nearly no coolant in the radiator or in the overflow tank. Today I brought some coolant and filled both. While waiting for the coolant to settle, I changed the spark plugs since they was long over due for a change. I attempted to turn on the key and when I turned the key no sound was made. The battery seemed to be fine. Likes worked and were still full powered when I turned the key.
I think my biggest question would be is that could be caused by over filling the radiator. I think it may be the starter. I have had problems with it in the past due to a bad connector piece i have on it. Basically have to readjust the metal shape of the connector.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: 2000 civic dx Overheating now will not start
When you crank it does it turn over or does it just "click"?
As for your overheating; once you get it started you can do this:
-Jack the front of your car up or park on a hill nose up
-Fill your rad with coolant and start the car
-Let the bubbles come out and turn your heat on full blast
-Keep adding coolant till it starts to spit out and you hopefully get hot heat
-Then top off the coolant tank

thanx for the reply.
When I crank, the engine does not turn over. There is sometimes a dull single click. That dull single click makes me thinks its a starter problem. The dull single click does not always happen when I always turn the key. Just on the initial turn after I let it sit for a while

Check your battery terminals, and make sure the battery is good. Also check wires going to starter and all ground wires in the engine bay.

Yea sounds battery related... If you disconnected the battery make sure you hooked it up right. You can't really overfill the radiator because excess goes into the overflow tank.

Re: 2000 civic dx Overheating radiator fan wont turn on
I really dont have the tools to test grounds. But I did somewhat upgrade the problem. The car now makes a rapid clicking noise when I turn the key. So seems that the starting isnt getting any or enough juice. Any idea of any tricks to getting it to start from here. I was thinking push start maybe or jumping the starter directly. the car is a manual transmission
I have a friend who own the tools I need. So hopefully I can get it started to make it over there

Re: 2000 civic dx Overheating now will not start
thanks for the help, i figured out it was just a bad starter. I replaced it and its run fine. now i am back to my old problem. the car over heats, I noticed the radiator fan isnt even spinning. I am thinking a bad temp sensor could be the culprit. any other ideas
Re: 2000 civic dx Overheating now will not start
Hey i had the same issue on my 2000 ex. I rigged it to a switch in the car for a few days and than replaced the sensor. It sucks doing that but it does work. I hope this helped.
