'99 EX Wont turn over, batt good

Hi folks. I'm new to this forum and working on my daughters '99 EX w/ Std. Tran. Wouldn't turn over tonight at work. Like a bad clutch safety switch. Lights didn't dim at start and no click. Pushed it off to get it home. I located the 2 switches for the clutch and found the top one was bent and not hitting the pedal when pressed. Pressed it with my finger and car would start. Did this several times to confirm. To get her by, I cut the blue/black leading to it and spliced them together. It worked and all was well, NOT! After 5 or so starts same issue again. She cut the bottom switch wire, pink/black and spliced with no results.
What am I missing? Have I blown a fuse or relay? I was convinced it was the upper switch since I could start the car while holding in on the switch w/ my finger. I did this several times. If I let it go, no start, push it in, start and 5+ starts after splicing. Never had this problem before.
Ideas? I'll be back on it in the morning.
Thanks

No one has any ideas?
Didn't get time to look at the problem today, granddaughter sick. Try again tomorrow. I'm wondering if the computer sees the wires jumped out and won't allow starting. I'll try disconnecting the battery to reset it and see what happens.
