Question DIY help needed - Throttle body

Looking to clean my 99 Civic EX throttle body - have a really bad gas pedal problem... its very difficult to press down sometimes. From what I have read online, it could be caused by a very dirty throttle body?

Anyone have a video/pics on how to remove/clean for a 99 civic?
Thanks!!

Re: DIY help needed - Throttle body

Remove intake box, or intake

Spray carb cleaner all inside the throttle body, dont overkill it

Or if you're mechanically inclined, unplug all the sensors and unbolt the entire TB and clean it with carb cleaner, paper towels, and maybe a toothbrush

If the gas pedal is hard to push I would fist eliminate the cable tec. Try to disconect the cable and then move the TB by hand. The cable may just need lubing, all try the simple stuff first.

Re: DIY help needed - Throttle body

There is a recall NHTSA99I002000 that addresses throttle cable sticking. Check the external throttle connection at the TB and see if you can move it.
