Car trouble!

I have a 96 civic DX. Just yesterday going down the highway my car stalled out and quit running while I was driving. I coasted to the side of the road and tried to restart my car but it would not start. While trying to start it, it would turn over but had no signs of wanting to start. Any ideas of what it could be please reply.

Re: Car trouble!

It might be the distributor. Take a plug wire out and put a spark plug in it and try starting the car. Look and see if the plug gets any spark or not. If no spark then its probably the distributor. Just check the distributor for corrosion or if the coil is bad. Also check if the cap is wet or not, it could just be that.

Re: Car trouble!

Well I checked for the spark and there wasn't one. I appreciate it. I had an idea that it could be the distributor because I have had trouble with it before but didn't know if it could be something different like the main relay or something.

Re: Car trouble!

It could just be the coil but it also could be the distributor housing. Its always hard to tell between them. But remember that when you replace a distributor you have to set the crank to top dead center for cylinder 1 then put the distributor on and put the wires in correct firing order.

Re: Car trouble!

Alright will do. Last time I remember getting firing order wrong and didn't have my manual for the car so I had to go through some trouble to get the firing order. Thanks again.
