98 Civic AC & Turn Signal Problems
98 Civic AC & Turn Signal Problems
The AC on my '98 Civic has been intermittent. The clutch on the compressor does not always engage. With controls switched to AC, I can get the clutch to engage by using a screws driver (placed between clutch plate and hub). This works for a while but then disengages. So, is the clutch bad of the AC relay? If it is the clutch, is there anything I can try before replacing it?
The other problem is the driver's side turn signal / parking light blinks faster and with less intensity than the passenger's side. Motor vehicle inspection in my state failed my car because of this. I have read other threads about bad ground. Where does the ground wire connect near the headlight? These is a larger ground wire that connects the radiator support to the PS bracket. If this ground is bad could this affect the turn signal circuit? Could this problem be related to the left turn signal relay?

Re: 98 Civic AC & Turn Signal Problems
Well, the turn signal problem was just a bulb. Duh!!
I think the AC problem is related to the compressor clutch. On the top of the compressor the red wire goes into a round black cap. I am guessing this is a pressure sensor that prevents the compressor clutch from actuating in the event that there is no freon? In any event the compressor clutch coil could be damaged t=and does not have enough pull to engage the clutch. Does anyone have a cheap compressor offered for sale? PM, is so. Thanks.
