Window Problem
Window Problem
Okay on my '97 ex coupe, the passenger side window goes down but rolls up really, really slow...and sometimes i have to help it up. It starts to stop rolling down at about halfwaydown. I've looked through some of the posts, but is there any real fix to this? If so, please tell me what the problem is and what i can do to fix this. -Thanks guys

Re: Window Problem
That happened on my moms car... the damn window was slow as **** (toyota camery). Turns out the wire harness for the window was torn to **** on the inside of the window... really strange. I guess it wore out with all the up and down motion.
Also, maybe the motor, or a bad connection (not enough voltage)

Re: Window Problem
Okay the problem was it needed to be lubed. I took the door panel off and sprayed all the tracks down really good, including the window seals. Make sure you get into where the window rolls/sits. Spray everything that makes the window roll up and down, (except for the motor of course).
I went to AutoZone and bought this Liquid Wrench White Lithium Grease... works wonders, for about three bucks. =) Roll it up and down about 20 times and it should be good.

Re: Window Problem
a little, the red tube on in of sprayer came off so it went into full spray. =P There might be a little excess near the seals after rolling up and down a few times, just wipe the excess off and it'll be fine.
Re: Window Problem
Oh first, i'd try removing the door panel and getting everything real good, then if it happens in a week or whatever, just spray it in the seals so it doesn't take as long. Just make sure you get it real good should be fine.
Re: Window Problem
Wow yeah.......the stupid stuffed worked for a few days but now it's back to the same problem....this is getting ridiculous and i'd like to fix it before summer at least!
Any suggestions or answers would be sweet
-Thanks

Re: Window Problem
I own a 97 coupe and the drivers side window would go up very slow and i would have to help it up, so i took off the door panel and sprayed everything with WD40 and its been about three months and it still works like new, it actually goes up faster than the passenger side window now! but yeah my car smelled like WD40 for a week or two so i re opened the panel and sprayed febreeze everywhere and in my car and shut all the windows and let it sit for a while, then aired it out, that made it smell good again!
Re: Window Problem
Could be. Some times the regulators get bent. Sometimes the windows work fine and then other times the glass falls off the track and shatters inside your door (guess who that happened too?). Before that they were working fine with no sign of any problems and then boom, my wallet got punched in the face without warning. If they are auto windows it could be a bad regulator motor. Pull the door panel and check it out.
Who needs that much velcro?
Why would anyone need that much velcro? These guys sell it by the roll http://www.liangdianup.com/miscellaneous_1.htm and is
hook and look and velcro the same thing?
hook and look and velcro the same thing?
Re: Window Problem
Take the door panel off and turn your accessories on. Then try to roll down your window. At the very least you will be able to see if your regulator(s) is bent. Check your wiring as well.
Re: Window Problem
LOL.... you have motors and regulators.... Regulators from what i understand, while trying to fix a 1965 impala... is the actual hardware.. the rails, with the gearteeth, etc etc.. and the part that holds the glass... All the hardware if i am not mistaken
Re: Window Problem
Dude,at worst, you need to replace the window seal, it's probably lost its smooth texture. Don't spend big bucks just yet. Lithium grease works well on the seal of the back of the window but it does wear off so add it every few months. Don't wd-40 it because it cleans out all of the lubricants in your window components and could affect your door locks too. That stuff is not a cure-all.
If it's a 1997 why spend the money trying to make it new again.White lithium grease with a qtip first, new seal second, save your money- third-for more serious troubles.
