The times, they are a changin'
The times, they are a changin'
Well, its been a pretty disastrous year for me with my Civvie. The initial Service on my 1996 1.5 SOHC Vtec-e cost me a bundle, About two months ago, someone drove into the back and split my rear faring, Some of the local kids ran something sharp down the side of it. I had a puncture the day before my MOT was due, and when my MOT came round, It failed as I'd fractured the front nearside spring. More cost. It was a sad day, My car had officially crossed the negative equity line.
I decided to let her go, The kit I bought to start modifying her, lays unused, on the hallway floor, awaiting an uncertain fate. The paint chips have never been painted in, or the dents popped. Its a great shame, I've been able to beat all comers at the blocks, theres nothing faster (I'm fairly sure thats a lie) away from the lights, and even with cronky suspension, I've enjoyed hoofing her round bends and roundabouts as though she were born to it.
I started to look at newer cars, potential replacements, Audi A3s, and Golfs, and today, she got signed off as a part exchange on a new car, off to the auction to wind up in the hands of who knows?
That said, My first Civvies martyrdom will not go unheeded by my new car,
A 2005 1.6 Civic Sport. It was love at first testdrive. And now, back to lurking.
My new baby

Shoot son, I didnt know we had poets in the house!
Sometimes you just gotta give up with some cars because they are doomed. Glad to see you stuck with the honda family. Got any plans for the new rugrat?

I'm gonna sit with it a while. I'm going to see if I can maybe use some of the bits I ordered for the old one, an air intake and header/ exhaust. If they don't fit, which I fear they won't, I'll ebay em. At the moment, I'm still all "whhoooooO" over it as it is.
Re: The times, they are a changin'
To be honest, I don't know yet, as I've not used em
.
The looks are a teensy bit questionable I think, but a vast improvement over my 6's goldfishbowl headlights, but as far as I know they are stock on this model. I'll let you know once I've done a bit of night driving in it.

Well. got my new car, All prepped, clean as hell, polished till it looked like it was made from Oil. Pulling away from the garage, Girlfriend said "theres a crack in the windshield", I told her to stop being silly, there was this big clicking sound, and this fcking fracture jumped across the entire length of the windshield. Pissed doesn't cover it. There was a little stonechip just under one of the wipers, and the garage think that whacking the AC on hot, when it was freezing, just made it pop. I'm getting it fixed for free, but not till Saturday.
That aside, lovely, sticks to the road like its part of the surface, really punchy, and really, really nice to drive (i'm old, driving position gets me). Those headlights are keen, super clear and potent. Oh, where do we go from here?
