Parts missing

Hi guys,

I am looking at buying the Pionner DEH P-8400 HU, I am getting a good deal. The only thing is that it is missing the remote, sleeve and wire harness. Will this be a problem? I already have an aftermarket HU in the car, so can I not use the existing sleeve and wire harness or am I missing something here. I guess I could purchase the remote if it was needed, I have a remote now with my HU and I have rarely used it.

Injen, I'm surprised by you! It kinda sounds like this deck is "slightly warm" Or "permanently borrowed" from someone else. If I'm wrong, and I hope I am, you should be able to buy a new wire harness from pioneer, off their website. As for the sleeve, I think that most of them work on most decks. As for the remote, I never use mine, even though it's in the car, I just use the buttons on the deck. So I don't think you're missing much here.

to be honest, it would be probably cheaper and infinitely easier to buy the cheapest pioneer radio off ebay, and take the wire harness off that. unless a shop local to you has a spare one they can sell you over the counter.

its a bitch to get anytign direct from pioneer.....

Pioneer changes their harnesses about every 2 years, but i think a dehp8400 uses a different harness then lower model pioneers. The cage should be easy to find at any place that installs pioneer. I think you can get the harness from pacparts.com. the remote is easy to get from pioneer. a guess on prices, $10 for the cage, $20 for the harness, $20 for the remote.
