Shielding noise??
I've got my RCA's running down along the plastic rail underneath the steering column and across. I've got some hum in the system. When I move the RCA's it goes away almost, so I think I know where it's coming from.(A huge tube of wires)
Is there a way to shield this at all or do I have to re-run the RCA's??
Thanks

where else do the rca's cross, besides near the stearing column, after that.....where do they go. there are several hundred locations/reasons thoughout the car that may result in a humming sound coming from your speakers..........so after they run by the steering column where do they go...this added info may help us solve your problem
In general, keep the rca's on the opposite side of the car that the power wires are run on.
in my own setup, i have power wire run straight down the right side, rca's down the middle, and my speaker wires run down the left side, i have had no problems.
in the trunk area, however, where all of these wire meet again, in previous cars i have had problems with power and rca wires being too close that have caused "noises" in my stereo that were eliminated by simple movements of the wires not even that far way from their original positions
It may be easiest to re-run the RCA's, i'd suggest down the middle of the car via the center console, it's very simple to take apart, especially if you have already done so to install a head unit you aleady know exactly how to do so

Thanks Whiterabbit and Tom1178 for your help with this.
I know where the problem is. It's under the dash area. I know this because when I move the RCAs the hume goes away. My problem was that I didn't want to re-run everything. But I guess that might be my best solution -down the center of the car.
