I know that this topic may be moved because of the subject matter, but I just want to warn everyone about the bad experience I have had with Mainstreet-audio.com. I just submitted a complait to the Better Business Bureau last night, and I had sent them previous e-mails warning that this was my next action. I also sent them an e-mail last night saying that I had filed a complaint. I called their company this morning because they are on the East coast, and as usual I had to call their numbers a few times because no one ever picks up. When I talked to someone on the phone I informed him of my problem in a calm and professional manner and he was not trying to help me. At that point I let him know of my filed complaint because of their innability to resolve my issues and then he told me that it he doesn't feel obligated to solve my problems and that it is not a problem for his company.
They have made many statements over the phone that contradict their customer service policies on their website, which I wish I had enough room to include in my statement to the BBB.
Here is the complaint that I filed with the BBB. Please keep in mind that I had to shorten it in order to submit it because they have a size requirement. Also, keep in mind that I am taking all of my personal information off of this complaint:
I have had an all around bad experience with the customer service and business practices of Mainstreet-audio.com. On June 11th, 2003 I placed an order online for a car audio amplifier for $308 dollars. When I placed the order I read all of their customer service information since I had not ordered from them before (http://mainstreet-audio.com/support/guarantee.htm). It clearly states in the aforementioned web link that most products are in stock and are shipped in 1 to 2 days. It also states that if a product is delayed that the consumer will be notified and given the option to cancel the order. When I contacted the company to find out the status of my order, since it had already been charged to my Credit card using their online request form (http://63.74.14.169/customer_inquiry.htm), I did not receive any reply within 48 hours. I ended up having to call customer service and they could not provide me with any information regarding my product. The only thing that was made clear to me was that they did not carry the product at their warehouse, even though they clearly state that most products are shipped within 1-2 days from their warehouse.
These are the complaints that I have in a nutshell:
1.Credit card charged for a product that they can not confirm that they have in stock
2.False advertisement of shipment times, stocking of products, and customer service reply time.
3.Lack of adequate and informed answers about what their warehouse carries. It seemed that they actually used a 3rd party distributor that they kept refering to as their "alternate" warehouse, and they could never get in contact with them about my order.
4.Not being able to confirm cancellation of my order because they could not confirm within 4 business days that my product had shipped. They would also not give me any timetable of when they would know
5.Customer service and business phone rarely answered during business hours.
6.Complete lack of pro-active customer service and initiative.
Desired Settlement: Refund
Settlement Explanation:
My first priority is to have my order cancelled asap, and to have a refund issued to my account. I have been trying to cancel my order for 4 days, but the company will not cancel my order because they say that they need to comfirm that it has not been shipped before they can refund my money. I have not received any time table for when they will know. I want to have no relationship with them because I worry about the validity of the stated warrenty because of the lack of Ccustomer service.

I was finally able to cancel my order!!
Man, it sucks that a compnay will sell a product that the have no possesion of and have no idea when they will be able to secure the product.
Anywayz, I ended up ordering my amp from an online authorized retailer for the same price

(who I trust and have ordered from atleast 5 times). They also pricematched for me, but I didn't realized that it was only a few bucks more because of the Domain dollars discount...but I am still saving like 8 bucks and from an authorized retailer.
I like Sounddomain because it says when you order something how long until the expect to have something shipped, and they are always willing to keep you informed trough e-mail and over the phone.
