I have played with this idea also...
and here is what I have come up with...
1 that dvd player has to be mounted horizontally (to aide in the loading of the ejector tray) so there isnt enough room in the box, sorry
if your heart is set on that idea I would suggest a vacume loading player. or trunk mounting... cause the movement of seats 9 seat bar in front, and the passangers kickin it in back ) doesnt really allow for it... as for the temp mounting of lcd in your dash above the console... thats fine but you loose use of cup holders and cig lighter( radar input... a must) I ended up mounting mine on the dash right in the center next to the windshield ... and formed a case around it with plastic that I got from a local supply house (piper plastics in Las Vegas) hope the ideas help

not all screens are created equal.... just like more expensive subwoofers (like the w7) you CAN get screens that are just built better....

el-cheapos may work, just like sony xplod works, but you might find the picture is grainy, that you can see scan lines, that the screen fluckers, that the brain is quick to burn out, that the casing wont hold together, any of a thousand things that make them jsut plain inferior...

before buying a screen, just liek a speaker, I would highly reccommend trying to find it first to see it. those particular screens are available at tradeshows alongside BOSS and audiobahn, and they might even have a setup to check out the product. I would do what you could to actually see the screen before buying it.....
