ED e10a vs. alpine type-r
hey people
during this summer im planning on replacing my three 10" audiobahns since i want to go for more SQ now.
So, I've been looking at both of these subs:
ED e10a
Alpine SWR-1021D
I'm probably going to end up installing three of each again. I'm sort of leaning towards the EDs, since they dont require much space at all to mount (0.5ft^3 sealed), and I've heard some great things about the ED A's. I personally haven't listened to them yet, so I'm not sure if the EDs are worth the extra.. i think it was around $150+.
Also, I'm going to need amps to power them. I was thinking about running 1000watts to each (regardless of which sub it ends up being). I was talking to some guy at circuit city about the alpines (was there to buy gift for father's day), and he said even though alpine rates the Type-Rs to be 1000watt max he still recommends running 1000watts to it. The EDs apparently can take upto 1400watt max while it has an rms of 800w.
I guess to make things short...: is the ED A worth the extra $150+?? (I'm asking for personal preferences/experiences with both subs)

I just got my E12A's last week, and they ****ing rock.
They do work in incredibly small boxes, and put out a lot of sound, at great sq.
I'm making a site with TONS of pictures on sound domain, but i'm still designing the fricken thing. I'll post a link for you when i'm finished.
Let's put it this way, I can still get my spare out. with 2 12's, and 2 amps.

I had a 10" type-r and currently have a 15" type-r... Both soud very, very good and get fairly loud considering they are sealed! My buddy has the e12a with 600w in a sealed enclosure and it is almost as loud as my 15" type-r, but has more low end, and of course the ability to get as loud, if not louder than my type-r with more power.
My pair of e15a's will be here at the end of the week, in which we plan to start glassin the trunk on Sunday, assuming they arrive in time! We are also installing a single e15a this Sunday in a slot ported enclosure of 2.2 cu ft tuned to 30hz in my friends, buddies car so I will be able to give my opinion on both sealed and ported next week.
