Nakamichi Amp install help?
I have a 100watt nakamichi.. I want to hook it up to my rear 6x9s... I have no clue about wiring, wire types, or anything.. could I pull power from my brake light to power the amp? Any help would be greatly appreciated

brake light to power an amp? woah your WAY off...
read this http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...threadid=19973 and search for more info.
basically you get the power from the battery. you also need a current that tells the amp when to turn on off aka remote turn on lead. you also need the amp to get signals from the headunit.

*sigh* thats how it always is on here.. I didnt understand that post.. never mind I will just pay someone to install it. I can never find any usful information on this website. I really didnt think that post you linked to was much help considering I am an ultimate newb when it comes to this and I have NO idea, and that post is not very detailed at all. Also it is not specific to my question, which is how to power my 6x9s in my trunk... forget it.. thanks for trying 7thgencivic.com

BTW isent the brake light 12volts? Thats what my amp requires.. so I figured I could remove the power out of the brake light and hook it up to the AMP instead... it seems logical enough.. its just electricity
there is the door, deimos, have fun with yoru civic, becuase if that is the attitude you are going to show around here, you wont be missed at all.
your consolation prize is the knowledge that voltage may be voltage, but the current draw that the amplifier requires is the reason you need to grab power directly from yrou battery.
yoru brakelight wire would either get really hot, or burn up if you tapped it for amplfier power.
not to mention that your amplifier would only work when you hit the brakes.
good bye.

my badd i didnt mean to come off as an *******.. i think i mentioned somethings to prove i was actually trying to help.. when i first started i got instructions from www.crutchfield.com. they still might have it up...
anyways on the amp what connections do you have to make...
1) power(+) - this is going to go from the battery to the amp. you can only use the battery and nothing else. well atleast for a reliable connections
2) ground(-) - this is going to connect to any bare metal part of the car. when i first started i didnt understand why but now i know...
3) remote turn on lead - you need a 12v source. preferably connected to your headunit. basically it tells the amp when to turn off/on. when you turn the radio/cd played the turn on lead will tell the amp to turn on. if you were to have used your brake lights, the amp would only turn on when you applied the brakes. or if you used your cig lighter, the amp would stay on even with the radio off.
-^^ those are what you need to power the amp
then theres the your wires you hook up to your speakers...
the link i posted above tells you how to hook up the power wire to the amp.
that should be it.. any other question feel free to ask.
