Alpine time correction

Anyone have the time correction numbers for Alpine HUs? I'm too lazy to measure myself.

With the tweets in the OEM EX location, it's a 1.5 delay for the passenger front. No delay drivers front. I don't know the settings for the rear since I don't have rear speakers.

Edit: Don't adjust the bass focus, it will automaticaly adjust according to the manual timing adjustment of 1.5.

I just calculated mine for a 2 door and I got FL/1.1, FR/0.0, RL/.7, RR/.4

The speakers I have are coaxial.

I have an alpine CDA-7893 HU and I have reallly never paid attention to the time correction button on my HU. What is the point of time correction anyways? I have a JL Audio XR Comp. set, what should I set my time correction to?

With car audio systems, the installation position of the speakers and the position of the listener mean that the distances from the listener to the left and right speakers are always different. These differences in distance from the listener to each speaker means the time sound takes to reach each listener is also different. The result is that the phases of each speaker becomes mismatched and the sound becomes unnatural, as though the sound stage is not wide enough.
The time delay function delays the time taken for sound waves to reach the listender in order to set the optimum phase for listening position so that the sound becomes more expansive as though it is being listened to on a sound stage.

The above piece was taken from the manual for my eclipse 8443.

On that partucliar hu, there are two modes of adjustment, pro mode and normal mode. In the normal mode there is a basic easy way to set the time alignment, they give you choices between position in the car that the user is listening from, size of the car (compact, wagon, min van, suv, truck, etc), and tweeter location(dash or door).

I found that when in normal mode with the settings for normal mode being compact car, with the tweeter on the dash, i have an ex with the tweeters in the sail panels which is guess is the dash...the sound appears as if it is coming from the right half of the windshield, the vocals are atleast. The "soundstage" appears as though it is offset to the right, this moslt likely is because in "normal" mode they have calculated the approximate settings for the typical compact car with the tweeters on the dash, but every car is different.........\

therefor i use the pro mode and it allows me to set the time correction for each individual speaker, by adjusting the time correction i am able to make the sound appear as if it is coming from where it is supposed to across the stage.

In car audio competitions, a proper sound stage balance is of utmost importance, i haven't ever personally competed therefor i must admit i have little if not any knowledge of how competitions work, but if you need to know ask some memmbers here on this board about how to set up a proper sq car with sound stage and imaging etc....i hope i;ve given you a head start into the basics of imaging and sq..........i'm pretty sure whiterabbit has competed before and based on the types of info ludlam has attributed to this board i'm sure he can give you many pointers as well.

I live in the middle of nowhere upper ny state, so car audio comps only happen twice a yr at best.

I've been to several over the past 4 yrs and i still wish i could be going to 10 shows a yr as opposed to the 1 or two that i make it to, go to a show and ask questions and listen and the competitors should be able to help you out with what a stereo should and shouldn't sound like.

ok i am rambling...
