these are in CAD prices..
2 Rockford HX2 12 RFD 2212 - $500CAN
or
3 JL 12WO8's SVC - $400CAN
so i should diffenatly get the RF subs...
what kinda amp would be good to power these guys.. i dont need anything too extreme.. just enought to make these thigns pound and not too exspensive...
Thanx... and how should the box be setup?

I would suggest a MTX 1000/1 for the two rockfords....you will be happer with those than the JL's....I agree with Fonto and WR on those.
And as a side note, if any more flaming starts, this gets locked too.

Excuse me obtix, but who are you to call me a "dumb ****"? He is looking for best bang for the buck, not the top of the line equipment. Two of the top end rockfords WILL outperform the bottom of the line JL equipment, I know, I used to have W0's. If he was asking about the bottom line rockfords against JL, obviously, I would tell him to get the JL's. MTX is another company that provides good equipment for a LOW price. Evidence of what he wants:
Would you have me suggest a JL 1000/1 or PhoenixGold 1200/1 for over $1000 retail when he is on a budget? Feel free to make your suggestions on equipment and why he should use it, but refrain from flaming others suggestions.
People with your sales tactics are looked down upon in this industry. What I gather from your posts is you will push someone into buying something that will not give them the best performance for their dollar simply because of a brand name. You need to think on an individual basis, instead of generalizing. If he were to say 'two HX2's or two W6v2's or two W7's" then I would suggest the JL.
And indeed, he should listen to both brands at a shop and see what he likes better, and buy based on that.
And before you start ragging on me again, go to my profile and look at what is in my car, i'm sure you can find a reason as to why I was a "dumb ****" for buying that equipment, but guess what, I like it, and thats what matters, not what you think I should like.

Mystic3030:
i heard some bad things about MTX, thats why i try to stay away from them...
and about going to shops to listen to them, even if they sound good, the amp they used might not be the amp i like.. but would it make a diff in sound quailty?
and even i do go and listen to them, its not like would know which is better and which is not... i cant notice the diff in the speakers... jsut dont want to buy somthing that wouldnt sound good in the long run...
if i was talking about computer parts, that diff, i know a lot about them.. hehe... but cars.. im iffy...
for $500 CAD, can you segguest anything other then the RF or JL?

Go and listen to them at a shop, and request a certain amp to listen to them off of. You will notice a difference between those different subs. Others to look at are Diamond Audio M3's, the Adire Audio Shiva is popular on here, but I havent listend to them, so I couldent tell you. Alpine TypeS or TypeR would also be good.
As far as other amplifiers, there are tons of different brands out there and plenty of threads about it, search back a couple pages in the forum and you'll find all kinds of info. A step up in amps would be going to the JL or Alpine lines, Phoenix Gold Tantrum series, Diamond Audio....search around, go to shops and listen. Explain what kind of sound you are looking for, and your budget, they should be able to get you a decent setup. A rockford 1000bd might even be good for you, can be found relatively cheap online.

Hey man, I love my MTX....great amp...I used to think that MTX sucked until I gave it a try and I am SO happy that I got it...I just wish I could have two matching amps...maybe matching PG amps in the future for me
MTX and PG amps, for the most part, don't run at 1 ohm though. The JBL really works well for me because it puts out the same power at 2 an 1 ohm...which means you have a lot of options

coz i always wanted to go all JL stuff... amps, speakers, subs...

JL stuff is expensive, if you wanted to go all JL I would suggest two 10W3v2's and a 500/1. Would probably run you about $1,000 USD retail.....The JBL amp or MTX would be a lot cheaper. It's not bad stuff (read, it will last for a while, and provide what you want). The only real difference is the JL will have more tunning options built into the amp, and slightly cleaner power....I don't think you will notice the difference though.
Fonto: I understand where you are coming from, but a continued argument like that is not appropriate for a public thread. Next time continue it via PM or something.

if you think that JBL is unilaterally not so good, then you are also awknolaging that the 12w0 is a not so good woofer, nor is teh punch HX2 any good.
the fact is, the amplifier works great, lots of solid power, and is perfectly matched to yrou proposed equipment, regardless of which of the two you pick.
its the most logical choice, really. especailly if you are no t100% sure which option you want

Another difference between a JBL and JL amp is that the JL amp is regualted...it puts out the same power at 12 volts as it does at 14 volts, and the JBL will put out more power at 14 volts then 12 volts. A JL will also put out the same power between 1.5 and 4 ohms (and I don't think it is one ohm stable), and the JBL will put out about the same amount of power between 1 and 2 ohms and half power at 4 ohms. These features will provide better SQ from the JL because the power will not be going all over the place...but both types of amps have there good qualities. If you have the money get the JL, if you want cheap power get the JBL sums it up

Subs and Amp: Scroll down to theExtreme package deal from theZeb and then add a Planet Audio for you front speakers.
Speakers: CDT classic series from the ZEB for $149
With all the money you save on the other stuff you can buy this for $600 American:
Clarion CD/DVD player
You will have a system that I would definantly be envious of

i didnt hear of Orion amp b4..
CDT Audio Classic, are they good??
wow, $699.99 for a CD/DVD player with screen...
that means this is a total of:
$599.99 + $149.99 + $699.99 = $1449.97USD = $1983.41CAD
