Question insane?possibly. But can it be done? Si install.

I am in the process of planning the install in my '02 Si and I need some ideas/help. Radio and front stage speakers are already decided on. It's what to do with the subs that has me running in circles. I am wanting to go as stealth as possible and try to keep as much weight between the wheels as possible. Is it possible to mount a set of 8" subs in the rear speaker locations? Since it is already a 6.5 in there now it seems to be that it would take little modification to get an 8" in there. Of course the area would have to be sealed, the big question is whether or not there is enough room to put a speaker and enclosure in there. Has anyone seen this done yet? The most weight I would like to have behind the rear wheels is the amp rack.

You can move the spare tire back to the edge of the trunk and make a fiberglass enclosure at the front of your trunk(near the seats) and house a decent 12 in there. and mount the amp under the side carpetting above the wheel well if it's a class D

im not intimate enough with the Si, but in a maxima, we did 4 8's under the rear deck. there wasnt space for sealed boxes, so we put them in aperiodic boxes... just wire mesh with box cloth, still had the full use of his trunk, worked out rather well, actually
