Stereo removal
Hey i disconnected my battery while putting in my CAI and the stereo came up with that thing that says u need ur code . And i lost my code so now i need to unistall my stereo and get the serial number off the back of it. Does anyone know how to take the head unit out I have a 02 civic ex coupe i need instructions on how to get the stereo out please help
you need to remove the piece with the cig lighter and the two blanks next to it. pry gently with a panel removal tool, its in there really tight, be careful not to leave pry marks.
once that is out look in there and you will see 2 8mm silver nuts with a phillips pattern in the middle. remove those.
now carefully remove your 2 center air vents, start at the point closest to the hazard switch on both of them. i remove these to get a better grip.
heres the fun part. now grab a hold of the entire air control/radio assembly, yes the whole thing is held in with clips and pull on it, carefull around the top corners those have thin plastic.
once that is out unplug all necessary plugs and get your serial number
hope that helps

There is a DIY for stereo removal. Click the DIY link on the menu bar to your left. Then click on "Audio". You can also call the Honda dealer you bought your car from, provide them with your VIN #, and they should be able to get your radio code.
