If I buy an Alpine HU off of eBay, what happens with the warranty? This assumes the item is new.

It depends on the seller. Only the seller can offer a warranty. If you buy it off ebay, it is automatically not under warranty by Alpine. Find a seller that offers some type of warranty, so after you install it, if something happens, you can get it replaced. Unfortunately, mine wasn't under warranty either way, so when my faceplate started getting messed up, it was defective, I couldn't get it replaced for free. I would have to pay $100 for a new faceplate, but for some reason my faceplate kind of fixed itself. Haven't had it start messing up on me for several months now.

If you buy an Alpine HU or any Alpine product from ebay or any other place online warranty is void unless it is Crutchfield.com! Trust me I know!

That's completely ridiculous. The HU I want is $399 on crutchfield.com and is going for $269 on eBay or other sites.

Try site like Yahoo! shopping. I bought my Kenwood HU from one of the dealers on there, and it was warrentied, no problem. Just make sure keep the reciept.

As far as I know, Alpine does not authorize online sales from any company other than Crutchfield. If the product you are buying is priced way below MSRP, then it's not authorized.
