Is it okay to power a ps1 with the cigarette lighter?
Is it okay to power a ps1 with the cigarette lighter?
I was thinking of getting a ps2 hooked up to my car but because of it's size I'm thinking of getting a psone (those white tiny playstations) and hooking it up to my car.
Does it fit in the glove box?
Is it safe to run the power from the cigarette lighter to power the ps1 and the sony lcd screen?
Canadian tire is selling a power converter for 29 canadian. This store has a sony car power plug thing for 55 canadian

well, lets see.
your fuse is rated for 15 amps on teh cig lighter. with a little math, P=IV, P = 15 x 12 = 180 watts.
so, with 100% efficiency, you can support 180 watts of draw on the cig lighter.
we use standard 180 watt inverters to run PS2's when we do cars.
check out the power rating on that cable, realize that its not 100% efficient.
its kinda pushing it for OUR supplies, tho it should theoretically work.
but the bottom line is, grab it if its cheap, cause the worst that will happen is youll blow a fuse. then you cna go buy a $.05 cent fuse and a couple bucks of wire to hardwire the thing to yrou car.

buy a power converter and cut off the cig plug, wire it up just like an amp, i would get a 300w converter that way you can plug more than one thing on to it. mount the converter in your glove box or under one of your seats. get some visor/ headrest screens. check out some of my pics.

I forgot the power inverter wattage for the one I bought, but this is what happened. I used to have a PS1 hooked up to it with no problems whatsoever, it would start every time. I just got a PS2 and sometimes it will turn on when I plug it in, and sometimes it won't. But if I just flip the inverter off and on it will work every time, so I'm fine with it.
I purchased the sony psone inverter and hard wired it to my cig lighter plug hidden behind all the panels, and placed a fuse socket inbetween the source and the unit to prevent any mishaps. It's been good 2 go for over a year now. see my ride 4 some pics
I've had my ps2 and a really small TV hooked up from the cig adapter. I was running a 300 watt inverter, but i did not have the TV and ps2 hooked up for all that long... maybe 20-30 mins total. I didn't run into any problems tho
