Question How to pull out stock headunit

OK, my girlfriend just bought a cva-1005 and a dvd player for her car yesterday and I finally bought the amp wires and all the stuff today and plan on installing it all tomorrow night. My only question is how do i pull out the head unit. I read the DIY and that only confused me more because of one of the pictures. If any one can me out that would be great.

Simple instructions:
There is 1 panel that consists of the cigarette lighter plug and the open pocket below it. Pull that plastic peice out, but be careful because there are wires that run to the cigarette lighter that aren't very long.

Once that panel is removed, there will be 2 screws that will be on the roof of that new opening that you see. I would recommend getting a socket wrench even tho the screws are phillips (from what i remember) it will make it MUCH easier.

Take those 2 screws out,

then either use a panel puller (or pull out your trusty FINGERS) and CAREFULLY pull off the panel that includes the center air vents, hazzard switch, HVAC controls and radio.

Thats all there is to it, I would recommend buying an adapter kit for the radio since its like 1 1/2 DIN and most aftermarket radios are 1 DIN. Any more ?'s, drop me a line at TBONE32379 on AIM. Goodluck.

If it is a 03LX Civic manual you will need to do a bit more.

Step One - Pray

Step Two - Open you cup holder

Step Three - At the opening of the cupholder grab the shifter cover and pull like a mother till it pops up, then finish popping it off the console. I left my shift **** on since I did not want to mess with it, really does not have to come off.

Step Four - Remove the two screws facing upwards just aft of the cupholder

Step Five - Press the clips out from inside the shifter area on the trim piece that runs on both sides of the shifter which forms into the Lighter holder. like 2 clips on each side

Step Six - Once the clips are free, hold the trim piece by both sides and pull straight rearward till it pops out. You need to spread the sides apart a little bit to insure the clips don't get caught, but don't pull to far away or something will break. Once you are pulling correctly it will pop out quite easily

Now you can see the screws holding the dash in as above, I tryed to use a screwdriver but a socket was quicky substituted.

Go to the downloads section and download the official Honda mechanics instructions. You can't get any easier instructions with pics then that. Thats what I used and it was easy as pie.
