I might do the AVH-P6400 screen and get the necessary hook-ups, that wouldn't be all that expensive ...

You'll still need either a CD-RB10 or CD-RB20 IP-BUS interface to get any sound, but that would work.

No problemo.
This is actually the THIRD incarnation of a full Pioneer / Diamond Audio system in my car. Rev 3 is where I stop, though. Through the design and redesign process I learned a TON about Pioneer's A/V system mapping and interfacing. It's really quite simple once you understand the basics.

Yeah, I installed my deck myself, it was pretty damn easy. But I haven't yet looked into any A/V yet so this helps. The IP-BUS interface is going to make things a lot easier as well ..
Thanks again man

about using the X-Box for dvd playback -vs- PS2, you also have to buy the dvd playback kit, and when i got the dvd playback kit for the x-nox i could play dvd's, but even with a brand new movie, it still blinked between the movie and the blue screen of death, you still get teh audio, but it blinks the picture in and out, i have talked with a bunch of people that have the same problem... with the PS2 you only have to have the base unit and a controller... now, about the pioneer decks, I have the premier DEH-P740MP and when hooking up my stand alone moniter, i was going to use the aux in ports, but i was informed by a local shop that i would have to buy an accessory wire, i think you all were talking about it earlier, it hooks into the IP Bus port or something?, anyway, where do i purchase one, currently i am using an FM modulator because of this problem, the audio is perfectly clear, but i think having this wire would eliminate a jumble of wires that i have... thanks

Either the CD-RB10 or the CD-RB20
$30 or $49, respectively. One has an IP-BUS throughput, the other does not.

I'm trying to build the uber-cheap dvd solution.
Circuit City currently has the LCD screen (w/ small speakers) that
mounts to a PSOne on clearance for $60. I have a $45 apex DVD
player under the passenger seat, and a $50 power inverter.
I've got everything temporarily wired and it works fine. Watched
a couple of dvds (cky4
) the other day. I still want to "hard
wire" the power inverter straight to the battery and I really want
to mod the case that the LCD screen comes in and mount it
somewhere in the dash/headliner. Not sure how that's going to
work out yet. I'll let you fellas know how it goes (I'm planning on
taking pics, etc).
Yukonart, explain again (I'll reread the thread, too) why a simple
auxiliary input on a head unit isn't a good choice for audio? I figured
that is the solution I'd be looking at down the road...

If you've got another brand head unit you're going to use, and it's got a set of RCA plugs for AUX in, terrific! But, with all the current Pioneer head units, you'll need the IP-Bus adapter in order to pipe ANY audio INTO the head unit. UNLESS, you opt for one of the few A/V head units that Pioneer has to offer. Do that, and you'll have the AUX in plugs you need. Thread
