I have a viper 790xv, which is DEI's pager alarm. I like it a lot, its nice to know if someone's messing with my stuff, but i think it lacks a few features, like there's no out of range alert, no clock or vehicle temp on the transmitter. It does include a remote start, but only has 2 extra channels, so after my window automation and trunk pop, i have no more channels. It only comes with one remote, and that remote doesnt seem to hold up to abuse very well, i haven't broken one yet, but the other 4 people i know with this alarm have broken the little antenna off of the transmitter. My antenna (the one in the car) gave out on me one night though, kinda locked me out. It's all warrentied forever though, so i dont know. For what i paid for it, it was worth it. For the $499 most shops charge (installed) im not sure if it is. I would probably look into compustar - has a longer range and has a built in safety for remote starting a manual trans. As for a prox, i think its a waste of money unless you have a convertable. They are all pretty unreliable (false alarms and not going off when they should), and if somebody wants to key your car, they are already halfway across it by the time a warning chirp is even triggered.

About a year ago, I had my head unit stolen, then within a year later, the whole car was stolen so I understand the pain. No one is more paranoid than me so I got the Clifford Avant guard 4. Its a crazy alarm, It has everything you could dream of but its expensive. I got it off of ebay for less than half price though. I would recomnd it. Ive tried a pager system but the range is pretty bad. They alyays say "up to a quarter mile!!!" which always seems alot shorter than you thought when you actualy have it. Get the alarm with the features you want though. I Clifford is made by DEI which also makes the sidewinders, vipers, and some other popular brands. I would check them out. Also I think you might be able to get a pager remote for the Cliffords through DEI. (Im not sure how compatible it is but they say it suposedly works)

Oh ya, I love it! its a realy secure system. The one thing it dosent have that I want to add is a glass break sensor but the system already has a motion senor so its not realy a big deal. They also have an optional module that you can use to plug a computer in to program the settings. I could go on forever about the different things it has. Hehe, sorry, I sound like a salesman.

Code Alarm TW-2...
Just came out, I have one already... Has a nice LCD you can see when someone leans on it (or keys it) has the starter (if you dont have a stick). It's just an incredable alarm!
