Focal 10 sounds messed, help me please!

Focal 10 sounds messed, help me please!
My sister has a Focal 10 in her car with a pro box and it sounds like the sub is displacing too much air (when it's sitting out and on top of the box it doesn't sound as bad as when it'd free in the air) WTF is the matter with it? She listens to it moderitally loud, not cranked up ever when she drives and the bass is always low, she also has a Alpine V12 running the power to it just so you know. Can anyone help me out?
