help me think up an idea
So i'm having a problem here. I cant think of a way to cover or flush or showcase this amp or anything. Basically its the back of a box, i've got a decent amount of space to work with. Give me any ideas you can. I'll give you the ones i've come up with or been told:
Plexi cover with neons (neons are a bit pricey)
a shape cutout over it
just standard flushmounting
nothing and show off all the ugly wires (thank you ak.. lol)
Speaker Grill carpet with backlighting - It's a fabric you can't see through unless theres light behind it
mesh over it, copper of something metallic (it hides the amp too much)
those are all i've gotten so far. I dont quite like the mesh idea too much, the shape cutout, I can't think of a good shape other than cutting off the corners, flushmounting is always good and simple, plexi and neons - anyone wanna buy me some neons?, i'm not even gonna mention ak's idea.
cmon now, give em to me all, i bet one of you can come up with something

How about just serface mounted with some nice end caps to cover the wire ends. (carpeted mdf or painted fiberglass)
do you have any pics of the current set-up?
might help with ideas

maybe u could flush mount it on the box and then have something rigged with motors so when u want the amp to come out the motors will bring it down and out. then once the amp is down and out, have a design in the space behind the amp lighted by a neon. i know its alot but its just an idea that popped into my head.

hey Ludlam, instead of a shape make a cut out with the name/logo of the manufacturer and with a little lighting you'll be able to see the amp.(easier said than done huh?) hey but it's an idea.

Try getting the logo etched on plexi we do it here all the time at Alpine well not us we have someone do it for us. look at the bottom of the door that piece actually says Alpine but it's kinda hard to see but you get the idea...

standard flush mount is always nice. what about that thin neon wiring
that you can buy in different lengths? you could leave a very small gap
in the flush mount and then tuck the neon behind if you know what i
mean. i also like the speaker grill carpet with lighting behind it...

ludlam, i have an idea! make a mold thats 4 inches tall, 20 inches wide adn 12 inches long. then suspend the amp in teh cetner of that and fill it with fiberglass resin (with all wires attatched of course)
you amp will be encased in a solid block of resin, you cna tell her no FIBERGLASS, so she should be ok with that right?
........right?
and your amp will be quite well protected......
