for those who have h/o alternators

hey, i think im gonna hafta upgrade my electrical system or wutever, and was just wondering wut alternator u have, and how much u paid for it, where u bought it, etc. i saw somewhere on the forums that our stock alternators run 70 amps, but i dont know. someone else told me that i need to run 3200rms to power my set up, and was just wondering how many amps an alternator has to produce to power my system. thx for ur help

if your running your system without the engine running, then divide the rms by 12 to find amount of amps

if engine is running, divide rms by 14

duty cycle of music is such that even with 4000 rms, youd be fine with even a 90 amp alternator.

much less a 120 amp high output alternator
much less a 200 amp alternator

and if you dont mind light dimming, and your not cranking it to ungodly levels all teh time, yes, even a 70 amp alternator is fine. read teh post!

if you THINK you need a new alternator, you probably dont.

can anybody who was installed a h/o alternator let me know where they got it? i did some searching, but all i can find is stock.
