Where to get a car alarm installed..
I live in San Jose, California.
I have no where to go but to the yellow pages or online.
Does bestbuy or circuit city install Car Alarms?
Also, I just need an alarm that'll go off when it's hit... Everyone recommends Clifford Arrow 3, but doesn't seem to have Shock sensors... Anyways, what do you all have installed and how do you like it?

Just search around in the phone book for cheaper deals. Don't get it done at cartoys or any major dealers, they will rip you off. I was an idiot and got a clifford alarm installed at cartoys, paid over $500 for the alarm and it didn't even stop my car from getting keyed again. They offered all these little accessories, like trunk and hood triggers, for free, but it cost $30 to install each. Basterds.

Sorry dude, but a car alarm isnt going to stop anybody from keying your car. The only sensors that would detect outside movement are proximity sensors, and they are mediocre at best. They should only be set to give a warning chirp when someone is too close, and only go into full alarm after someone is IN the car. I have yet to see one that always works right, you get too many false alarms no matter who installs them.
Back to the topic, yes, circuit city and best buy both install alarms. Their cost is competitive with most mom and pop shops that install correctly (no connectors or t-taps!), plus you get a nationwide lifetime warranty on the work, so combine that with the lifetime warrenty on either clifford or viper products, you have a guaranteed alarm for life. I think the most expensive alarm either carries is DEI's responder alarms (viper 790xv or clifford rs3), and those are 500-600 installed, which, if you look at DEI's suggested retail of $599 uninstalled, sure sounds like a good deal to me.
As for what i have, i have a viper 790xv with window roll up module, and i love it. The remote is a little big, but knowing if my alarm is going off is worth it to me.

I got my alarm from Circuit City, It is a Viper 550 ESP w/ Remote start Circuit City Installed it for me and yeah if anything goes wrong with it it is always good to get it done at a major store like best buy or circuit because there is always one around. Unlike some small shop that says they will warranty it. Then you move like 3 states away and the alarm goes bad. I wouldn't drive 3 states just to get an alarm fixed. So basically the warranty is bogus and you have to pay someone else to fix it. The viper alarms are great I love mine. I even got my street glow hooked up to the remote so that I can turn the lights on and off with the remote to my alarm.

Got it guys... so I'm getting
1. Alarm doesn't really matter, none are perfect.
2. CircuitCity/Bestbuy are expensive, but there is always one nearby when I have problems.
3. Mom/pop shops are cheaper, but would need to go back to that one when I have problems.
Thanks guys!

I just had my alarm/remote start put in today. The best investment ever even though winter is almost over. Get a well know alarm installed. A name brand. If anything goes wrong with it, you can call them anywhere you are. That is what my installer told me. Generally the "brains" of the alarm are warrentied. I personally woulnt ever go to Best Buy with my car. My installer has had his own shop of 5 years. and been doing installs for 15. I trust him.
