changing head unit in an EX
i wanna change my head unit to a pioneer p6500 i have an EX and i dont know if it will affect it or not but i wanna keep my flip door cd storage bin that is under the cd player. can i just take out the cdplayer and keep the flip door storage bin there? also will the cd player fit nicely in the slot when i pull out the factory cd player and put the new one in? or do i need a custom plastic surround? and do i need a harness kit too??
Yeah, you can keep the flip box underneath the HU. You need to get an adapter to install the new HU so it will look clean. See link. Also Circuit City sells them. You need to get a wiring harness clip in order to get all the wires straight unless you are doing an amp install or whatever. Circuit City has that too. Don't know if you have the HU yet, but some companies include this stuff with the sale of the radio. Crutchfield's bracket won't work with the flip box. They give you a completely new box which is why I don't wanna go through them. Plus Crutchfield is really expensive.
