dude ur f@#$ing nuts if your gonna lay MDF as a floor board... I guess u dont care about weight .. cause that shi# weighs ALOT... u need to go spend 10 bucks and get a sheet of particle board or something real thin and light... cause mdf is dense and HEAVY!!!!!!

EDIT: jusT my two cENTS

Island - go to the ICE forum. Those guys can tell you all you need to know.

Chenz - Are you serious? MDF doesn't weight all that much. Lots of audio guys do a new floor. Its not that big of a deal.

hey island.....dont go with mdf...youd be crazy to go with that.......
go get a half sheet of 1/4 inch thick plywood.....more reliable than partical board....
i did mine that way......i traced the trunk floor mat onto the plywood then i cut it out with a jigsaw.....
you wont be able to fit the whole big piece into the back maybe 2 pieces.....i ended up makin mine into 3 parts

hope this helps, use your imagination, take your time

YEA fiberglass would work..i have my C.A.P. down in my spare tire well .. and i used alittle fiberglass to make a window to see it... that stuff is strong and light.. def a good idea compared to more wood. and how are u guys gonna tell me that MDF is light?? thats like almost the HEAVIEST , MOST DENSE wood there is... This is why its mainly used for speaker boxes. u got to be kidding me...

hey use birtch. It is so much lighter than mdf and plywood. A little bit more expensive but not much. It would be well worth it. really light weight.

Are you guys who say MDF is too heavy serious? First of all, MDF is the standard for audio installs. Yes, it weighs more than other woods, but it's more uniform in character, and what are you so worried about a few extra ounces for? You don't drive a Lotus. You're not gonna feel an acceleration difference if you wear Doc Marten boots instead of Birkenstock sandals. So you're not gonna feel a difference by having MDF instead of another wood. MDF is just strong and easy to work with, that's why people use it. Save the birch for cabinets or whatever.

Particle board is useless. It'll give under the weight of subs, just like the stock floor. That's why he needs something thicker. Plywood - no point.

As for fiberglass, you could do that, but you'd be looking at a lot of time, and if you don't do it yourself, a LOT of money. It has to sit in your car and harden to the mold that you have to build, and you lose the use of your trunk for quite a while. It looks amazing when done well, but it takes a lot of work to do it right. I wouldn't start off with that.

hay you can mount the spare tire over the engine.... its easy!! here i'll tell you how

1)Remove your front tower bar.
2)Remove cold-air intake all the way to the throttle body.
3)Remove head.
4)Remove anything else in the way
5)Don't forget to remove the throtle body too, i will get in the way!

there now mount the 15 inch long bolt rightdown a valve shaft.use a huge wad of J B wheld, and pound it into your block, through the tire over it an tighten down with a huge wing nut.

it it works tell me
