Power atn.

I have 2001 civic EX 2door. I am installing an amp with my factory head unit. I was wondering if there is a power ATN. supply. If not where should I connect my remote wire? I have seen that many people connect it to the cig. lighter power supply, but this switches the amp on every time the car start wether the radio is on or not. Seems like this will be an unnessay drain on the power supply of the car. So if there is not a power ATN supply where sould I connect to?

It really isn't much of a drain at all..... no signal = minimal power running to it to keep the amp on

isnt the antenna built into our rear window..... in either event i tapped into my wifes car like your describing. I used a test light to find the switched source wire behind the head unit and tapped into that. It works fine.

can also put a switch on teh ciggarette lighter, itll alawys be off with the car off, and only be on when both the ACC2 switch is set (key in ignition) and the switch is on as well.

otherwise that amp'll be off.

I like Alex's idea better tho, personally, i didnt realize the stock radio hod a switched 12 volt source on it.

all units do. It doesnt have a specific wire for going out to the amp but all radios need a wire to turn on. I just cut the wire, put on some shrink wrap, soldered my remote wire in and shrunk the wrap. good to go.

so you mean the ACC line that the radio uses to turn on, then? thats the same as what powers the ciggarette lighter.......
