&^#@%6 Alpine
OK, this is gonna be the 3rd time i've sent my Alpine HU in for service.....first time was grinding on the faceplate motors, 2nd was constant skipping and no radio reception, and now the lights are flickering on the display and buttons, and only the eject and volume **** work....i'm controlling it with the remote! Oh yah, the radio reception is gone again....still under warranty though.
Anyway, i'm sick of the damn thing, and I cant see it during the day anyway...so, does anyone have the Clarion DXZ935? I'm seriously considering it, but I was wondering about the reliability and ease of use, as I don't know anyone personally that has one. Also, is it readable during the day?
Thanks for any responses you may have.

P.S. my door panels are coming along great

clarions are liek the energiser bunny.
my buddy has a clarion in his car, he takes his car offroading, that thing takes alot of abuse. nonstreet tires on teh street, the ride sucks, no skiping. offroad naturally it takes an act of god to prevent skipping
he has put cds in there, wondered why they didnt play, ejected them and saw that half the cd was coated in oil! now its all over the cd reader? terrible!
tries another cd, works fine!
gets sand in there, opens er up and uses a cosmetic brush to dust the sand bits out. perfect.
thing still rusn great. clarion has a fantastic bullet proof record, and makes a solid reader to boot. I dont know a single person who has actually bought and run clarion and was dissatisfied with the sound, or the build quality. (they are ugly as **** tho )

i have the DXZ835MP, i would have bought the DXZ935 if it had MP3 capabilities. my previous unit was a Pioneer 7400MP, it was a great unit for the price, but when i first saw the 835MP at the audio store, i was very impressed. the initial quality of the unit was impressive, and the features are great, and the main thing, it loads MP3's and WMA's really quick.
go for the clarion

OK....I checked out the Pioneer Premier DEH940 tonight.....it's a pretty damn sweet HU....but my dilemma is, if I'm going to spend $819 on a HU, I donno if I can justify it on a Pioneer....I think im gonna check out Dennon and Nakamichi... ::sighs:: so many choices....and yes, there is a lemon law on this kind of thing, but it has to be sent out 4 times in a year. I'm only on 3.

Sounds like you got a dud to me. My alpine 7815 is under my bed and still works after being in my car for 5 years. On my second now and haven't had any skipping issues. You about have to pick the car up and throw it to make it skip.
They should have replace the unit.
Anyhow, Clarion makes great stuff to my knowledge. I think they have been trying to take alpine since they came on the market.
