installing cd reciever
installing cd reciever
i have a 2001 civic lx coupe with the cassette reciever. i'd like to swap it out with a cd reciever. so far i am going to get my cd reciever from crutchfield.com, they include the adapters free. how hard is it to swap out the reciever and how long would it take? i have never done this before but i am pretty good with my hands.
depends on how good you are with electronics.....but ordering from crutchfield is a good idea, they have really good step by step instructions and most decks come with a free wiring harness/install kit....if you feel uncomfortable, have a friend help you with wiring, but its not very hard, just take your time

the hardest part for me was pulling out the console. dont forget to check and make sure you didnt drop any clips while you were struggling to rip that thing out. Same with the bottom console part too. It's easy, not even that time consuming. just be careful not to scratch anything.

If you follow the Crutchfield sheets, you dont have to pull out the whole center console like it says on the DIY on this site. I ordered the Crutchfield sheets for my rear deck, even before there was the Rear deck DIY on this site. You should be fine, it isnt too hard. The only hard part is popping the radio/AC unit out of the dash. I have learned that it if you push from the bottom where you pop off the plug in, its easier. Have Fun.

it's not all easy like in my 94 lx where you had two screws next to the glove box and one below and it was out. that install took 15 minutes.
