Is this guy for real...

ok so i go into custom sounds today to put an alpine cda-7894 deck on lay-away, and the clerk tells me that there is going to be an extra charge on the install because they have re-install the oem radio in order to continue using the keyless entry feature .

now i know i dont know much about audio electronics, but this sounds like a situation where the "big guy" is trying to exploit the "little guy". basically, if this guy is f.o.s., then im going to have to do it myself.

what would i need to buy for the install and how hard is it? i mean, once you get the oem unit out (had to do this when painting interior pieces), it seems like it would be plug-and-play. -thanx-

This is the case with some (mostly American, go figure) cars and some older civics (I think 93 and 94 model civics). If you have a 7th gen you don't have to worry about that. if I was you, I would take my ride to someone else, because it sounds like that shop knows

I agree with Fonto. At no time does removing your factory deck effect the functionality of your factory keyless system!(unless you have a 6th gen civic) I think they just want to get a little more money from you!
